SUSAN CONNOLLY

Susan grew up in England enjoying violin lessons, playing both  chamber music with friends, and orchestral repertoire with various youth orchestras.  Susan holds a B.A. Hons (Music) degree from Bath University in England, an ARCT in clarinet performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and a teaching diploma.

Since  moving to Collingwood she has played violin and viola with the Georgian Bay Symphony Orchestra and currently plays 2nd clarinet with the Huronia Symphony Orchestra.  Susan  plays the upright bass with the Georgian Sound Big Band and the Regal Jazz Band and performs on violin, clarinet, saxophone and bass in community concerts.  She also enjoys playing chamber music in various formats.

As a music educator, Susan imparts the joy of music to students of all ages. She also assists Keiko Yoden-Kuepfer with The Rondo Ensemble, an after school  Music Ensemble for Elementary and High School students

COVID PROTOCOLS for In-Studio lessons

My preference is for in-studio lessons but lessons can be switched to Zoom if you prefer or if there is a lock-down.

Here are some steps that I have taken to ensure safety for all: One student at a time except  for siblings taking lessons together. No  parents,  extra siblings  or friends.

Students are encouraged to use the washroom at home before coming to the lesson, which is working well; but if needed  I have provided hand-washing facilities with water, soap,  a fresh towel for each person, and hand sanitizer.

Students remove outdoor wear at the door, sanitize their hands  upon entry; I sanitize door handles,  student chair if they use it and music stand.

Fresh pencils are provided for each student.

To eliminate  handling of papers, I have my own copy of the music.  The student will  write their own fingering and short notes.  I write lesson notes using Rocketbook and email them to parents at the end of the day or the next morning.

Masks are required and in addition I have a face shield if I need to  look at a theory page. I have also set up a movable screen.  I have rubber gloves for myself  if any instruments require tuning or adjusting.   Students  have their own instruments so instrument sanitizing is not an issue.
