Lesley Joosten has been performing the C flute, piccolo, and alto flute for over thirty years in orchestras in Toronto, the Netherlands, and in European Orchestra Festivals. Through the years, she has been involved in directing youth bands, flute and vocal choirs, and in creating music workshops. Lesley is an advocate for both music and music education as seen in her undertakings: she developed a music scholarship program and co-chairs and adjudicates music festivals.

Lesley studied music at the RCM through the University of Toronto and has participated in many flute master classes. Her experience as a soloist, chamber and symphonic player have provided opportunities to greatly hone her skill as a flutist.  Improvisation and teaching fulfill her passion for the “Art of the Flute” which passes on to her students, some of whom who are now carrying on performing, and teaching in the education system.  Lesley believes with music, “anything is possible.”

Lesley currently teaches private lessons either in person or on Zoom at Summit Music Centre Collingwood and also at her home studio in Wasaga Beach. Lesley teaches flute privately and in group lessons. Most recently she has started Drum Circles for the Wasaga Beach Public Library, “Rhythm of the Beach” for adults, and a children’s program “Rhythm in Rhyme” using percussion instruments along with nursery rhymes to  help develop a child’s inner musical ability.
